Biography of Sami Abedin, MD
Dr. Sami Abedin is a Harvard fellowship trained board-certified Diagnostic Radiologist with a specialization in breast and body interventional procedures. Dr. Abedin attended Grandview Senior High School in Kansas City, Missouri, where he graduated with honors. He was 1 of 100 high school students selected for the highly competitive and rigorous accelerated six-year combined BA/M.D. Program at the University of Missouri Kansas City school of medicine, one of a few accelerated programs in the country at that time. After medical school in 2007, Dr. Abedin did a one year Preliminary Internal Medicine program at University of Missour-Kansas City, School of Medicine before starting his four year Diagnostic Radiology Residence program in the same University. Dr. Abedin received excellent residency training in all the sub specialties of radiology. It was here that he developed a special interest in interventional radiology procedures, research and medical illustration. He combined his hobby of drawing with medical knowledge and participated in medical illustration of several publications including textbooks and journal articles. He was selected as Chief Resident in his final year of residency. In 2012, Dr. Abedin continued his post-graduate training at Harvard Beth Israel Deaconess Medical center, sub-specializing in Abdominal Imaging and non-vascular interventional procedures. At Harvard, Dr. Abedin advanced his body imaging skills and performed cutting edge interventional procedures including RF ablation, cryoablation and microwave ablation therapy treating tumors throughout the body. After completion of his one year fellowship, he accepted a private practice position in Rhode Island at XRA Medical Imaging, Inc. where he covered 3 busy hospitals and several outpatient centers throughout the state. He honed his interventional procedural skills and developed aspecial interest in Breast imaging. Ultimately, after one and a half years, wanting to be closer to family in California and having an opportunity to provide quality care and give more time to his patients, he accepted a position at Yuba City Advanced imaging center. Dr. Abedin's approach to patient care is treating patients as if they were family; providing high quality care, compassion, a pleasant bedside manner and making sure all questions are answered. |
